mingling and caffeinating

This week, I mingled with some of the high-rollers at the newly re-opened Dicken's Bar at Excelsior Hotel, and kickstarted my weekend with a (few) shot(s) of Nespresso's just-launched Limited Edition Naora coffee. Watch out for these highlights (and more), coming soon on theWanderlister+.

Caution! Eat with care!

This time of year is particularly deceiving for dining out in Hong Kong.

The weather is humid and "warm". A perfect breeding ground for bacteria and other equally lethal organisms that can cause mayhem in your digestive system.

I've been unfortunate enough to catch two mild cases of food poisoning over the past 7 days, which I suspect comes from eating food that had not been carefully handled during the process before reaching my stomach.

Here are some tips to keep you safe during your springtime food adventures:
- always wash your hands before eating
- if something tastes off, spit it out and don't finish it
- question anything that doesn't look right
- stay away from food that is highly susceptible to contamination
- keep your immune system in top shape
- try not to drink too much alcohol, which can damage your stomach's natural protective lining against the nasties

Above all else, just be cautious. Eat safe!

let this be noted for a very long time...

...restaurants located on airside of airports should recognize that the majority of patrons are parties of 1-2P at any given time. As such, spaces can and should be designed a whole lot more efficiently by proportioning the floor with a larger percentage of smaller tables.

The revenue generated per seat thereby increases, allowing the cost per square foot to run the business in such an extremely expensive arena to level out.

That is all. As you were...

mezzaluna, BKK

On my half-birthday last year (haha, yes, last year...) a couple of friends and I found ourselves in the very heart of Hangover 2: Mezzaluna at Lebua Hotel, Bangkok. While clearing out my stack of random things, I rediscovered the "certificate" and 6-course tasting menu from that night... pure bliss.
